Terracotta

Home

The Shakedown's first album 'Terracotta' released January 2010 is a mixture of rock covers, original songs and 1 Jazz song.

The concept for the album was created by singer Paul Bytheway and pianist Andrzej Baranek whilst gigging with the usual Jazz standards.

The album contains music of Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Led Zeppelin, No Doubt and The Rolling Stones. The humourous take on these classic hits has taken audiences by storm across the country.

The band's versions of classic songs take some getting used to as they are so different from the original versions. Don't Speak has been transformed into a Ballad with a full brass orchestra backing the vocals for the first half of the song.

Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog are now straight swingers. Song 2 has been given an ambient feel in contrast to the heavy original Brit Pop anthem.

The songs chosen are an eclectic mixture of rock and pop from different eras. All of the songs have been chosen by the band because they love the original songs already.
